The Best Pizza in Arcadia, Phoenix (An Honest Local Guide)

Arcadia is one of the best food neighborhoods in Phoenix. There’s a lot of good pizza within a five-minute drive of our front door — and yes, we’ll happily tell you about the other shops, because a great pizza neighborhood is good for everyone.

Our honest framework

“Best” depends on what you’re in the mood for. We grouped Arcadia pizza by occasion — date night, weeknight family dinner, late slice after a Camelback hike — rather than ranking 1 to 10.

For Chicago tavern-style

This is the one we admit a bias on — we’re the only shop in Phoenix doing a real Chicago tavern-style pie with a 48-hour cold-fermented cracker crust, Wisconsin mozz to the edge, and party-cut squares. If you’ve been chasing the pizza you remember from Chicago, this is what you’ve been looking for.

For Detroit-style

Detroit-style is having a moment in Phoenix, and there are a few good options. We bake ours with Wisconsin brick cheese (the real deal, not a sub), 24-hour fermented dough, and stripe-on-top sauce. The Pepperoni Frico is the order. See our Detroit pies.

For Neapolitan

If you want a leoparded, blistered Neapolitan with a wet center, our friends at Pomo Pizzeria on 24th Street are the move. They’ve been doing it longer than anyone in town and they do it right. We’re not even trying to compete with that style — different pie, different occasion.

For New York-style slices

For walk-in, fold-and-go slices, we like a couple of spots over by 32nd & Camelback. Honest slice pizza is its own discipline and we respect it.

For “let’s just order in and watch a movie”

Both our Tavern and Detroit pies travel well — the Tavern stays crispy in the box if you give it a minute, and Detroit reheats beautifully in a 400° oven for 6 minutes. We deliver throughout Arcadia and Biltmore. Order online.

The honest take

Arcadia has range. You can eat pizza at a different style every week of the month and not get bored. We think we make the best Chicago tavern-style and the best Detroit-style in the neighborhood — because nobody else is doing them quite the way we are — and we’re proud of that. For other styles, we’ll happily point you to the people who do them best.

Pizza is good. The pizza neighborhood is better.
